This week, U.S. Department of the Interior Secretary Doug Burgum issued a secretarial order aimed at keeping national parks open and accessible to the public. In response, Bruce Westerman, Chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources, expressed his approval.

"As we head into the summer months, millions of Americans and visitors from around the world will be enjoying our beautiful national parks. Secretary Burgum is making sure the National Park Service is carrying out its mission to welcome visitors and provide them with the best possible experience," Westerman stated.

He highlighted the importance of park accessibility to local economies, citing his hometown as an example. "I know just how much my hometown of Hot Springs depends on access to our local national park, so I'm pleased to see DOI is ensuring these national treasures are open for business."

The decision comes as people plan for increased visits during the summer, emphasizing the need for the parks to function smoothly for tourism and recreation.
