FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The City of Fayetteville invites Fayetteville residents to view and give feedback on a draft master plan for Walker Community Park, either in person or online.

The plan was developed from two rounds of public input, including focus groups held earlier this year, two open-house planning meetings at the park and online questionnaires. It details many of the most requested items from residents.

The drafted plan will be available for viewing and input Friday, July 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Walker Park’s large pavilion, just north of the tennis courts at W. 15th St. and S. College Ave.

The City wants to hear from a diverse group of residents and hopes many people will attend so the draft plan can be refined, resulting in an improved park experience that provides diverse recreational options.

Concurrently at the pavilion, Community Resources staff will be hosting the annual CDBG In the Park community picnic where participants can learn about varying programs and services offered by the City and others.

For those unable to attend the meeting, the plan will be available online July 14-31 for viewing an feedback on Speak Up Fayetteville, the City’s online engagement portal: https://speakup.fayetteville-ar.gov.

The new master plan will be used to help guide park improvements scheduled to begin in 2024. These future improvements are partially funded with $2.4 million from the Park Improvement Bond approved by residents in 2019.
