FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Gulley Park playground area will be closed starting Friday, July 14, so construction can begin for improvements, including an interactive fountain, pavilion, new playground equipment, landscaping and other amenities.
Fencing will be placed around the playground, which will be inaccessible until the project is completed in early spring 2024. Park restrooms will be available throughout the project.
Nearby playgrounds can be found at Sweetbriar Park (1.5 miles north of the park by the Niokaska Trail), Braden Park (1.5 miles to the east) and Gordon Long Park (2 miles west on the Razorback Greenway). Additionally, the promenade and swing area of Wilson Park recently reopened for play.
The approximately $1.4 million in improvements are being funded by the City and through a $220,000 grant from the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism Office of Outdoor Recreation.
