FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Lake Fayetteville softball complex, including the fields, restroom facility and playground area, will be closed starting Tuesday, June 27, for improvements.
Restroom facilities for trail users are still available at Veterans Memorial Park, the Lake Fayetteville Marina and North Shore.
Renovations to the ballfield complex will replace aged and worn out infrastructure. This project consists of an overhaul to the stormwater drainage system, as well as installing artificial turf on the infields to increase the playability of the complex with regards to weather.
Other improvements include new fencing, backstops, dugouts, bleachers, security lighting and improved accessibility. The project is anticipated to be completed in March 2024 in time for the spring softball league.
“Lake Fayetteville has a long history of serving the community as a softball facility for league and tournament play,” said Byron Humphry, parks operations director. “To meet the needs of our growing community, these upgrades will bring new life to an aging facility to accommodate both youth and adult softball for years to come.”
The improvements to the Lake Fayetteville softball complex are funded by the 2019 Park Improvement Bond approved by Fayetteville residents. For more information on Park Improvement Bond projects, go to: https://www.fayetteville-ar.gov/3695/Park-Improvement-Projects.
