To those of you who are making FOIA requests to the City of Alexander there are some issues you need to take into account.
1) The permanent staff for city hall consists of two full-time staffers and the court clerk who works part-time for the court, and may fill-in on other days helping the two full-time staffers. Unlike past mayors, the current mayor isn't running a family employment service. That's how some of the city's budget savings has occurred. One of the two full-time staffers has a multitude of job titles. She is both human resources and accounting plus everything in between. The second staffer works out front and deals with anyone who comes to city hall.
2) Every year cities and counties are audited by the state. It's not a financial audit but an audit of accounting practices. When an auditor shows up on the city hall doorstep everything stops and the auditor gets everyone's full attention. Even the mayor has to wait in line. It's that time of year to be audited. Actually, any time of year is a time to be audited.
If you aren't getting the speedy responses you think you deserve it's probably because any one of several issues take precedent; like payday or the state auditor. And, electing someone else mayor won't change reality. Unless you need something from city hall that can be handled by the front desk or the court clerk, both you and the auditor need the same person and the auditor comes first.
