Today, Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum signed two secretarial orders concerning the implementation of the EXPLORE Act in gateway communities. In response, House Committee on Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman issued a statement.

“Secretary Burgum’s order implementing the historic, bipartisan EXPLORE Act will expedite plans to expand public access and bolster the $1.1 trillion outdoor recreation economy,” Westerman stated. He further emphasized that “the secretarial orders signed today recognize the importance of engaging with local leaders and gateway communities closest to our national parks and public lands.” Westerman expressed gratitude towards Secretary Burgum for his efforts in implementing this significant legislation and conveyed his eagerness to continue working together to enhance outdoor recreation access nationwide.
