Congresswoman Carol Miller highlighted the significance of providing opportunities for everyone to succeed, expressing that the Second Chance Reauthorization Act plays a crucial role in reducing recidivism rates and enhancing public safety.
Congressman Danny Davis praised Second Chance reentry programs for their positive impact on individuals and families, creating healthier communities and contributing to safer environments.
Congressman Bobby Scott acknowledged the invaluable safety net provided by the Second Chance Act for those reintegrating into society, emphasizing the importance of reducing recidivism and supporting successful reentry.
The Second Chance Reauthorization Act of 2024 aims to extend programs from the Second Chance Act for an additional five years, continuing to invest in reentry services and assist individuals in successfully transitioning back into their communities post-incarceration.
The bipartisan effort has garnered support from various organizations, including the American Jail Association, National League of Cities, and U.S. Chamber of Commerce, among others.
The Second Chance Reauthorization Act seeks to empower formerly incarcerated individuals with the necessary resources and support to lead honest and productive lives, ultimately contributing to safer communities and a more effective criminal justice system.
