SW Arkansas Times

We have been busy attending Career Development Events this spring semester. CDE’s allow FFA members to be a part of a team in a specific skill area that competes against other FFA Chapters from the entire State. Scholarship, communication skills, work ethic, and relationships that could last a lifetime are just a few of the benefits these events offer.

We are featuring CDE teams at Cossatot River as we prepare for District Contest on March 14th at Southern Arkansas University. This will include Individual and Team Top 10 placings.

Todays Team we will share is Forestry. These team members identify trees, forestry equipment, and tree disorders. Practicums include topographic map reading, tree measurement, compass and pacing, identifying wood products, and testing over chainsaw parts and safety. These skills prepare students for possible careers in the industry and/or to be knowledgeable land owners.
