Awarded through a partnership between NFWF and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, International Paper’s Forestland Stewards Partnership, the Altria Group, and with additional support this year from the Bezos Earth Fund, the grants benefit shortleaf pine forests, oak forests, riparian forests, in-stream habitats and grasslands, leveraging $3.4 million in matching contributions to generate a total conservation impact of $7.4 million. The collective projects will restore or enhance more than 20,000 acres of forest and 30 miles of stream habitat, benefiting aquatics species only found in these areas.
