CITY OF BEARDEN: International Overdose Awareness Day

Awareness

City of Bearden issued the following announcement on Sept. 1.

August 31—is International Overdose Awareness Day, a time to remember those we have lost to drug overdose. In observance, the 2nd Annual Bridge the Gap will be held tonight at 6:45 p.m. at the Clinton Presidential Park Bridge in Little Rock.

Organized locally by the The Parker Gill Foundation and Hope Movement Coalition the event is a time to come together to remember the lives lost and to show those struggling in Arkansas that they are not alone.

The opioid epidemic and overdose awareness are extremely personal here at the Arkansas Municipal League, as our Executive Director Mark Hayes and his wife Alison lost their son, Wells, to an overdose on April 18, 2020. Please take a few minutes to watch the video below, which was originally broadcast during last year’s convention.

WARNING: This is a graphic story about overdose and addiction.
