Cost of college went up for all students at South Arkansas Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.4 percent for 2018-19 at South Arkansas Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Arkansas residents paid $3,012 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $72 more than the $2,940 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 59.8 percent more than residents this year, or $4,812. Their price tag grew 1 percent from $4,764 in 2017-18.

About 93 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Arkansas residents. And about 5 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 93 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 112 students received grants or scholarships totaling $525,820 and 39 students took out student loans totaling more than $129,496.

Including all undergraduates (1,473), 1,086 students used grants or scholarships totaling $4.2 million, and 453 students took out $2 million in federal student loans.
