About 24 percent of the 689 degrees and certificates handed out by Henderson State University in 2017-18 were to students in education programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency’s National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Arkadelphia conferred 81 bachelor’s degrees and 65 master’s degrees in education programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor’s degree in general business/commerce. Data shows the school gave out 70 bachelor’s degrees in general business/commerce, followed by 52 bachelor’s degrees in general studies and 42 bachelor’s degrees in general psychology.

The university enrolled 3,961 students for 2017-18, including 3,404 in undergraduate programs and 557 in graduate programs.
