The House Committee on Natural Resources conducted its member day hearing, providing a platform for members of Congress to discuss significant issues affecting their districts. Chairman Bruce Westerman emphasized the committee’s commitment to understanding diverse natural resource challenges faced by communities across the United States.
“The Issues in the House Committee on Natural Resources touch every community in the United States. It’s important to open the doors of this committee to all members and to learn more about the natural resources issues they’re addressing back home in their districts,” Westerman stated. He noted that topics such as reforming the Endangered Species Act, supporting domestic mining, and establishing a memorial honoring law enforcement were among those discussed. “Today’s hearing is part of the Committee’s ongoing work to serve every corner of our country.”
House rules mandate each standing committee to hold a member day hearing during the first session of Congress, allowing testimony on proposed legislation within their jurisdiction. All House members were invited to testify on matters relevant to them or their constituents.
Six members from various districts participated in today’s hearing, addressing natural resource concerns impacting their areas.
